Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is designed to help you understand how RoleStar, Inc. (“RoleStar”), collects and uses information you provide to the rolr.me website, to the ROLR service, and to any applications (including mobile telephone and/or tablet applications) or websites that we may make available (collectively, the “Service”), however accessed, and what choices you have regarding the information that you provide. 1. How does the Service collect information about you?

When you volunteer information

When you sign up for or use the Service, you voluntarily give us certain information. This can include your name, your profile photo, the email address you use to sign up for the Service, your date of birth and age, and any other information you provide to us. You may also choose to provide us with location data, address book data, and access to your device camera roll, which we collect with your permission via your device.

You also may give us permission to access your information contained in other services. For example, you may establish your Service account using credentials provided by Facebook (i.e., via Facebook Login), which may allow us to obtain certain information from your Facebook account that is part of your public profile (like your friends or contacts, name, gender, location, email address, and the like). The information we receive from those services often depends on your settings and on their privacy policies, so please review those before logging in to the Service using such a third-party login feature (e.g., Facebook Login).

When you download an application or use the Service

Like most internet services and applications, we create and record a few things when you interact with our Service. Some examples include:

Log data. When you use the Service, our servers automatically record certain information (“log data”), including information that your device sends whenever you visit a website or internet service. This log data may include your Internet Protocol address, the date and time of your request, how you used the Service, and the like.

Cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and the like. Cookies are text files that may be sent to and saved by your web browser or device when you access a website or online service. You can generally set your device to warn you whenever cookies are accepted, or to block them entirely. Please refer to the documentation provider with your web browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome) or device for information on enabling these options. A web tag is a bit of code or a pixel embedded in a webpage, online service, or email message, that allows us or a third party to see that you have looked at that webpage or email message. We use cookies and web tags to enable us to recognize you and tell us how and when you use the Service. Our cookies do not contain your personally identifiable information, however we may associate that information with your account if you are a member of the Service. Some services that we use – including Google Analytics – may use web tags and may also place their own cookies on your browser or device. To learn more about how Google Analytics collects and uses your data when you use the Service, and how you can control the information sent to Google Analytics, please review https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners. This policy covers our use of such technologies only and does not cover the use of such technologies by third parties. We do not currently commit to responding to “do not track” signals sent from web browsers.

Device information. In addition to log data, we may also collect information about the device you’re using to access the Service, including what type of device it is, what operating system type and version it’s using, the device settings, unique device identifiers or data related to such identifiers, crash data related to the ROLR application, and the like. Which of these data we collect may depend on what type of device you’re using, and on the privacy settings you’ve established via your device’s operating system. To learn more about what information your device makes available to us, and the choices you have in this regard, please review the policies of your device manufacturer and/or operating system software provider.

2. How do we use the information we collect?

We use the information we collect to provide you with the Service and to develop new services and service components, to improve the service, to advertise and promote the service, and to protect our members.

We may also use the information we collect from you to help customize the content you receive through the Service. For example, if you allow us to collect geolocation data, you may be more likely to be matched with another member in your geographic area.

We may also use the information we collect when you interact with the Service to:

  • Contact you. For example, we may send you updates, promotional emails, and other information that we think may be of interest to you. A link to unsubscribe from our email list will be contained in the footer of each optional email message you receive from us.
  • Help your friends and contacts find you on the Service. For example, we may allow people to search for you in the Service using your email address or real name. We may receive this information either directly from you (e.g., when you give us your name and email address to sign up for the Service) or from third parties you’ve authorized, such as Facebook, if you chose to log in to the service using third party authentication (e.g., Facebook Login).
  • Respond to your questions or comments. For example, if you send us a service request via email, you must provide us with your email address.

3. What choices do you have about the information you provide to us?

The Service allows you to access, update, and modify your profile information – including your name, email address, and the like – at any time through the “Profile” settings. You can also delete your account entirely through the “Profile” settings. Please note that we may retain archived copies of your information after you delete your account.

There are also choices made available to you by your web browser software provider, and by your device manufacturer. For example, your web browser software may allow you to manage cookies; your mobile device may allow you to decide whether or not to share geolocation data with us. To learn more about these choices, please review the information provided by your software and/or device manufacturers.

We do not currently commit to responding to “do not track” signals sent from web browsers.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, known as the “Shine the Light” law, permits those who are California residents to request and obtain from us a list of what personal information (if any) we may have disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year, including the names and addresses of those third parties. Requests may be made only once per year and are free of charge. For the purposes of Section 1798.83, we currently do not share any personally identifiable information with third parties that are not under our common ownership or common corporate control, for their direct marketing purposes.

4. When do we share information with third parties?

We share your information for the purpose of allowing us to offer the Service to you, as set forth herein, and with your permission. For example, we may store your information on servers physically controlled by our web hosting providers, we may share your email address with our email marketing providers, and the like. In the course of providing such services to us, these third party companies may have access to your information. We do not authorize these companies to use or disclose your information, except in connection with providing the services we request from them.

We may share your information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with any law, to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements, or to protect our rights or our property, or that of our employees, our members, or others. We may disclose information upon receipt of a valid court order or subpoena, or to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation, which may include responding to requests and court orders from jurisdictions outside the United States. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we believe in good faith to be unlawful, as determined in our sole discretion.

If we become involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of our assets, including bankruptcy, our assets, including website visitor information and personally identifiable information, may be transferred to a third party. At that time, your information, including your personally identifiable information, may become subject to that third-party’s privacy policy.

We may also share aggregated or non-personally identifiable information. For example, we may choose to publish, share, or sell statistics regarding how many of our members prefer to record themselves performing in a comedy (as opposed to in a drama), how many men use the service (as opposed to women), and the like.

5. What about third party services you may choose to interact with?

In some cases, we may allow you to choose to access and interact with third party web services through our Service. For example, we may allow you to purchase contend directly from Apple’s iTunes Store from within our iOS application, using your device. In such cases, your use of those third party services is entirely optional and those services may choose to collect your personal information as they deem appropriate. We are neither responsible for nor in control of how third parties collect, use, or disclose information obtained through these services. We encourage you to be aware when using these third-party services and to review their policies before submitting any personal information to them.

6. What is our policy on children’s information?

We do not direct our service to children who are under thirteen (13) years of age. We are committed to respecting the sensitive nature of children’s privacy online. If we learn or have reason to suspect that a member of our Service is under thirteen (13) years of age, we will promptly delete any personally identifiable information we may have regarding that member. If you learn that your minor child has provided us with personally identifiable information, please contact us at admin[at]rolr.me.

7. How do we make changes to this policy?

From time to time, we will review and may make changes to our privacy policy. When we do so, we will notify you either by emailing you or by placing a notice on the Service. If we make such changes, we may ask that you affirmatively consent to them; if we do not, such changes will become effective thirty (30) days after we have posted a prominent notice within the Service. The most recent version of our privacy policy is always available from a link on our homepage and our Privacy Policy link.
